Clint Eastwood is not on social media.
A representative for the actor and filmmaker, 93, confirms to PEOPLE that Eastwood does not have any official social media accounts, despite there being pages online that claim to belong to the star.
One X (formerly Twitter) account in particular has been tricking Eastwood supporters into believing he is behind the account due to a verified checkmark featured on the profile.
Blue checkmarks on X used to signify that an account was actually owned by the person or organization represented. But, after Elon Musk’s takeover of the social media website, anyone with an active subscription to X Premium is able to display the badge on their profile.
While Eastwood isn’t one to use social media, he is instead all about using his platform for a good cause.
Last month, the Cry Macho actor made a rare appearance at the Reasons for Hope event presented by the Wildlife Conservation Network in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where Dr. Jane Goodall spoke during what the venue, Sunset Center, described as her “90th birthday tour.”
Eastwood was spotted at the event with a full beard, as he wore blue pants and a jacket over a multicolored button-up flannel.
All proceeds from the Reasons for Hope event went “to support global youth environmental action through Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots program,” a description said.
Eastwood has previously spoken about the concept of current trends, including selfie-taking.
He said he considered snapping selfies a “pain in the rear” during a conversation in promotion of his 2018 film The 15:17 to Paris.
“I don’t like selfie sticks and I don’t like selfies. Period,” he told USA Today at the time. “But you get asked to do so many of them.”
While speaking with Eastwood on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2016, host Jimmy Fallon introduced the actor to a face-morphing app called Bonk, and even asked him to snap a selfie for it.
While his immediate response was “No,” Eastwood eventually obliged and watched the app warp his selfie in real time.
“Well, I’ve looked worse,” he joked in reaction.
