Even when he made it big in Hollywood in the late ’90s, he was different from all the leading men because of their physique. While actors like Clint Eastwood were fit and lean, Schwarzenegger was bulked up with a chiseled body.
It wasn’t until Schwarzenegger entered the land of cinema that the perception regarding ideal leading men began to change. However, there was a big secret that the leading actors, including Eastwood, of the 1970s were keeping a secret from the public and that is they would always secretly work out to maintain their physicality.
In a recent interview on Literally! with Rob Lowe podcast, the Terminator star revealed a major secret about Eastwood,
“Clint was always working out. But what happened—and what was different then—was that those guys were working out secretly. Because I remember Clint saying to me, he after Universal machine and, ‘You know Harold Zinkin, who created the universal machines; he gave me the machines, and I have it in my house, and so no one knows that I’m working out.’”
This confession shocked Schwarzenegger, as he wasn’t able to understand why Eastwood would want to work out in secret. It wasn’t until Eastwood revealed his real reason that things started to make sense.

Actors nowadays post publically and share their workout regimens with their fans. But back in the 1970s, as Schwarzenegger revealed, it was a norm to work out in secret, which understandably seems a little weird. So when Eastwood revealed that he worked out in secret, the former Mr Olympia asked,
“This is a secret?”
And it wasn’t until Eastwood explained his reasoning that things started to make sense,
”Yes! Just you know, it’s always better when you say, I was born like that.”
And so in showbiz where the audience wants an in into every little occurrence, Eastwood’s revelations make more sense. There should remain a hint of mystery to remain relevant and interesting in a world daring to bare it all.
