Back in 1993, veteran actor Sylvester Stallone starred in a classic movie titled Demolition Man. Being a sci-fi movie, the film features several scenes that would be deemed a bit much in today’s time.
Although the film received average ratings, Demolition Man was deemed a fairly successful movie. The director, however, revealed in an interview that he couldn’t make a sequel right now even if he wanted to.
Sylvester Stallone’s Demolition Man Will Not Get A Sequel
Being a veteran actor, Stallone was praised for his role in the 1993 film Demolition Man. Being a sci-fi movie set in the year 2032, Demolition Man was directed by Marco Brambilla and was a commercial success.
In an interview with Yahoo! Movies, the director talked about how there was a lot of experimentation going on. Marco Brambilla revealed that the Sylvester Stallone-led movie wouldn’t be possible today because of several scenes that would be too much in present times.
“There was a lot of interesting experimentation going on. The film was quite commercial at the time but it still had some eccentric elements that I threw in that I may not have been able to do today. In fact, if I was making it today, you probably couldn’t say the things we said in the context of a big-budget science fiction movie.”
Starring alongside Sylvester Stallone was Sandra Bullock who found some of the lines in the movie cringe. The actress revealed in a different interview that she hated one line in the 1993 movie with her whole heart.
Sandra Bullock Found One Line Too Cringe In Demolition Man
Since a sequel is far away from development, Sandra Bullock did not hesitate to talk about some cringe scenes from the movie. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bullock talked about the time her character had to perform s*x with Sylvester Stallone’s character.
“It’s a great scene because they both want it. They don’t know how to get it. […] The line that I hate more than life itself, ‘Vir-s*x has been proven to produce higher orders of alpha waves during the digitized transference of sexual energies.’”
Stallone had revealed in a separate interview that he wished that a sequel to Demolition Man would have been possible.
“I think it is coming. We’re working on it … with Warner Brothers, and it’s looking fantastic, so that should come out. That’s going to happen.”
The 1993 movie received a rating of 6.7/10 on IMDB and 62% on Rotten Tomatoes. Demolition Man is currently available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
