Edge of Tomorrow, arguably one of Tom Cruise’s most underrated movies, is coming to Netflix on September 7. Directed by Doug Liman and loosely based on Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s All You Need Is Kill manga, Edge of Tomorrow is a post-apocalyptic story in which humanity is losing the war against a mysterious race of alien invaders. It stars Tom Cruise as Major William Cage and Emily Blunt as Sergeant Rita Vrataski.
Despite his accolades, Tom Cruise’s character in Edge of Tomorrow is a coward who wants to stay as far as possible from the war. He is eventually sent to the battlefield and dies in combat, only to wake a few hours before his death. What follows is a mind-bending, action-packed story where Cage lives and dies time and time again. With incredible set pieces and a fascinating take on time travel tropes, Edge of Tomorrow is a must-watch for fans of science fiction.

Why You Should Watch Edge Of Tomorrow On Netflix
It’s not easy to find a movie that combines incredible action sequences, great visual effects, and a well-written time-travel story. Edge of Tomorrow has all of these qualities and also happens to star Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, both of whom give great performances and shine as action heroes. Tom Cruise has been in some amazing sci-fi movies, but Edge of Tomorrow stands out even when compared to Minority Report or War of the Worlds.
Edge of Tomorrow’s premise could have been nothing but a gimmick in a lesser film. However, the Doug Liman movie makes the most of its time travel story and uses Cage’s newly found ability to create tension and set the narrative. Edge of Tomorrow is an intense 110-minute journey told mostly from the perspective of Cruise’s character.
Ten years later, Edge of Tomorrow remains an underrated gem that still deserves a follow-up. Despite calls for a sequel or even a prequel, the movie tells a self-contained story and is satisfying throughout. Perhaps the best of Tom Cruise’s 2010s films, those watching Edge of Tomorrow for the first time when it drops on Netflix on September 7 won’t be disappointed.
