It’s no secret that there’s no love lost between Kevin Costner and Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan. After all, neither of them were probably expecting to part ways before the wildly popular show was over.
Now, it’s being reported that Costner has gotten “revenge” on Sheridan in a surprising way.
Costner’s Alleged Revenge On Sheridan
Costner, 70, is currently starring in a three-part Fox Nation docuseries, Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner. The title has raised some eyebrows. Indeed, many think that Costner is trying to bank off his association with the hit show Yellowstone even though the docuseries has nothing to do with the show.
In the Fox Nation show, Costner retraces the footsteps of President Teddy Roosevelt and naturalist John Muir. to explore the history of Yosemite and the impact that it had on the creation of America’s National Park System.
“Once in a while, you come across a story that has that truly special mix of elements; it’s stranger than fiction and happens against all odds,” Costner told Daily Mail. “It results in something that legitimately changes the world for the good and, most importantly, it all really happened.”
“The story of President Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir’s camping trip through Yosemite is one of those truly special ones, and I’m excited to dig into the next chapter of the preservation of the American frontier,” Costner continued.

Fox Nation President Weighs In
“Kevin Costner has a unique ability to capture the American experience and captivate an audience through his extraordinary storytelling,” added Fox Nation President Lauren Petterson. “There is no filmmaker that better embodies the spirit of America 250 than Costner.”
Some believe that including Yellowstone in the docuseries title is meant to be an act of revenge on Sheridan. Indeed, Sheridan dramatically killed off Costner’s iconic character of John Dutton from Yellowstone after Costner declined to return to film the second half of the fifth and final season of Yellowstone.
Costner made this decision because the filming dates conflicted with those of his four-part western epic film series Horizon.
Despite all the drama, executive producer David Glasser recently said that he’s “very happy” with how it all shook out.
“I’m very happy with the way audiences have embraced the show, and with the journey that Taylor has created in the present time and in buttoning it up the way he always would,” Glasser told The Los Angeles Times last Friday.
“From day one, Taylor was very clear how the show was going to end. Like anything else, this show has been through an incredible journey,” he continued. “At the same time, it seems like it’s the right moment for it to evolve. This part of the story had to close, and I think the timing of it now is the right time.”
Sheridan Sounds Off
Sheridan, 54, has briefly addressed his alleged feud with Costner at times.
“My last conversation with Kevin was that he had this passion project he wanted to direct,” Sheridan told The Hollywood Reporter in June of 2023. This was a reference to Horizon.
“Once lawyers get involved, then people don’t get to talk to each other and start saying things that aren’t true and attempt to shift blame based on how the press or public seem to be reacting,” Sheridan added. “His movie seems to be a great priority to him and he wants to shift focus.”
To be fair to Costner, he has never hid that attitude.
Sheridan has yet to comment publicly about Costner’s new show. If the title of the Fox Nation docuseries is truly meant to be revenge on Sheridan, we can only imagine what he thinks of it!
