The “Things a Man Oughta Know” singer also joked that from now on, she’ll test her pants’ sturdiness before every performance.
The “Things a Man Oughta Know” singer inadvertently split her pants open while performing at the Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Mich., on Saturday but took things in stride. “Y’all just about got a real show,” she said, laughing on stage after swapping out her jeans. “A real show!”
Though Wilson seemed understandably surprised by the incident, she remained in good spirits after changing into a new outfit. “You can’t make that up!” she said. “I’d have never known had my people back here not seen it.”
The country star, who’s also known for acting in season 5 of Yellowstone, noted that this marked her first public pant-ripping experience. “There’s a first time for everything, and I’m glad it was y’all that I split my pants wide open in front of,” Wilson quipped.
Wilson went on to joke that from now on, she plans to test the strength of all her pants before every performance. “Adding this into my routine before a show so my britches don’t rip like they did last night at faster horses,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram video showing her doing squats and high knees on Sunday.

Wilson is currently in the midst of an extensive North American tour promoting her fifth studio album, Whirlwind, which is set to release in August. The singer has 40 concerts scheduled between now and the end of the year.
This isn’t the first time Wilson’s wardrobe has attracted attention online. A video of the singer performing in leopard-print bottoms previously went viral on TikTok as users admired her, uh, pants, prompting fans on the platform to show off their own backsides in videos set to Wilson’s “Heart Like a Truck.”

Wilson responded to her virality in her own TikTok in December 2022. “I can’t even scroll on TikTok on my For You page without seeing my fat butt on everything,” she said. “Whatever brings the people in, whatever brings the people in! But I’m just letting y’all know, go check out my record Bell Bottom Country. Happy to have you either way. However you found me, I’m happy, I’m happy you’re here. Y’all see what I did with Bell Bottom Country? See what I did? We didn’t even plan that, but the Lord has a way of working things out.”
She also responded to that trend in an interview with Theo Von last year. “I didn’t know how to feel about it in the beginning,” Wilson said. “I thought it was gonna be just this little tiny viral thing, and next thing I know, weeks later, I’m still seeing big ol’ butts.”
