WWE is allegedly eyeing Hollywood legend and Rocky actor Sylvester Stallone for Wrestlemania 40. Sylvester Stallone has been one of the most rugged-looking actors of the previous decades and has not been a stranger to entertainment fighting, with his role in the Rocky franchise being the foundation of his stardom.
Sylvester Stallone partnering up with WWE and featuring in Wrestlemania 40 would be a novel introduction to the franchise. However, given the physicality that is required for Wrestlemania, and WWE events in general, Stallone would find himself in a lot of danger, something that routinely affects a lot of players in the ring, which could be compounded by his advanced age.
Sylvester Stallone needs to keep the toll of WWE in mind
While Sylvester Stallone has had a very storied career in Hollywood and is a film legend, the actor is sadly no longer in his prime when it comes to his physicality. Still one of the most well-maintained men in the industry, the idea that Stallone could enter WWE casts a lot of doubt about his health and well-being.
WWE is a very high-injury entertainment sphere, one that usually leaves those who participate in it with serious physical ailments. Sylvester Stallone might find himself in quite the conundrum if he were to somehow sustain some physical damage.
Given his advanced age, even the smallest of injuries could develop unforeseen complications for his health. and could adversely affect his acting career or even his physical health. Although no stranger to physically demanding roles, the actor has sustained serious injuries before, some of which have put him in intensive care units of various hospitals.
However, a deal is far from being struck
While the idea of Sylvester Stallone as a part of Wrestlemania XL has gotten a lot of fans hyped (and concerned), it has been reported that nothing concrete is in the works as of yet. The actor has made no official statements and neither has WWE. The update comes from WrestleVotes, via X, which talked about the details of the interest. The tweet read:
“Sources within WWE indicate there is interest in collaborating with Sylvester Stallone for WrestleMania in some form. While any communication status is unclear, I’m told there’s hope for it. Whether it ultimately ends up happening or not is to be determined. Stallone, born in NYC, gained fame through the iconic Rocky films, deeply associated with Philadelphia. Additionally, Stallone is no stranger to the WWE world, having inducted Hulk Hogan into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.”
While the actor could probably see the business opportunity of partnering with WWE, it would make more sense for there to be some caveat in the contract that could safeguard against injuries, given that Stallone still dabbles in some physically intensive roles in Hollywood.
