Taylor Sheridan Isn’t Done With His Revenge As ‘Yellowstone’ S6 Takes Another Dig

Taylor Sheridan keeps the Yellowstone drama alive, teasing a “Kevin Costner type” in Season 6 — just not the Costner. The feud continues.

Taylor Sheridan isn’t letting the Yellowstone drama die down anytime soon. With Season 6 on the horizon, the showrunner is reportedly taking another subtle jab at Kevin Costner — this time by introducing a “Costner type” who’s definitely not Costner.

After their messy fallout, Sheridan seems determined to keep the feud alive on screen.

Taylor Sheridan’s Beth & Rip spinoff is starting to look a lot like Yellowstone season 6

Taylor Sheridan might have shut the gates on Yellowstone season 6, but he’s keeping the ranch open for a familiar ride. The upcoming Beth and Rip spinoff is shaping up to be a not-so-distant cousin of the flagship series, especially with a casting report (via Puck) hinting,

As for the rest of the Sheridan-verse, he’s planning to shoot the Yellowstone spinoff with Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly this summer (they’re currently looking to cast a Kevin Costner type that is definitely not Costner to join them). Plus, another spinoff is coming together. Plus, new seasons of the existing shows, and Sheridan is writing yet more original stuff. I’ve said this many times, but the Sheridan TV factory is pretty incredible.

With Yellowstone officially ending after Kevin Costner’s exit, Sheridan quickly pivoted to a new chapter, handing Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser the reins for a spinoff. But now, with plans to add a Costner-esque figure, the divide between this “new” series and a straight-up Yellowstone continuation is getting blurrier by the day.

While Rip and Beth’s story will unfold outside Dillon, Montana, the formula is all too familiar. Sheridan has always anchored his Yellowstone universe around a strong patriarchal presence — John Dutton in Yellowstone, Jacob Dutton in 1923, and James Dutton in 1883. Now, it looks like history is repeating itself, just under a different title.

This casting move also fuels a brewing legal storm. Since Yellowstone streams exclusively on Peacock, packaging Beth and Rip’s continuation as a “spinoff” lets Paramount+ claim rights to the series. That’s a move that could spark disputes over whether this show is truly separate from Yellowstone season 6 or just a loophole.

Beth and Rip are fan favorites, but if Sheridan truly wants this spinoff to stand on its own, a fresh direction might serve it better. Otherwise, this so-called new chapter might just be Yellowstone in disguise.

Taylor Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch hosts first concert with ‘Yellowstone’ country stars

Taylor Sheridan is bringing country music to his own backyard. The Yellowstone and Landman creator is hosting the first-ever Bosque Ranch Live concert on Sept. 13 at his ranch in Weatherford, Texas.

The lineup? Rising country stars Drayton Farley, Kaitlin Butts, and Jackson Dean — all of whom have had their music featured in Sheridan’s shows. Sheridan tells Billboard,

My career is built on the art of storytelling…And nowhere is the storytelling tradition more alive than in country music. My hope is that Bosque Ranch Live is a space where these stories can come to life and sets the stage for more events like it to come.

The 1,000-acre Bosque Ranch has seen Yellowstone filming and equine events, but this is its first concert. With attendance capped at 500, fans can snag a $500 ticket or go all-in with a $1,500 Country Campfire experience.

Sheridan’s shows have boosted country artists — Zach Bryan’s only TV performance? Yellowstone. Now, his ranch might just be the next big stage.
