Clint Eastwood initially rose to prominence as an actor but began to make a name for himself as a director in the early ‘70s. In the years since he came on the scene, the multi-talented creator has delivered quality content both in front of the camera and behind. One of Eastwood’s less talked about but still noteworthy offerings recently landed on Max. I’m talking about the star-studded affair Hereafter.

Eastwood is at the helm of this 2010 film, which sees him delving into decidedly supernatural territory. The picture didn’t achieve much acclaim from film scholars upon release. In fact, it sits at a paltry 47% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. But the film did manage to win over moviegoers, pulling in more than $100 million at the global box office.

The feature’s impressive cast includes several recognizable names. Matt Damon, Cécile de France, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jay Mohr, and Richard Kind topline the picture. Eastwood directs the film from a screenplay penned by Peter Morgan.

The setup goes like this: Three people set out on a spiritual journey after death touches their lives in different ways. George (Damon) is a construction worker in San Francisco who can communicate with the dead. French reporter Marie LeLay (de France) has a supernatural vision after nearly dying in the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami. Meanwhile, a London schoolboy suffers the loss of the person closest to him.
