Fans finally got a first look at Kevin Costner’s passion project, Horizon: An American Saga, with the first official trailer. The movie, which Costner stars in, directed and co-wrote with Jon Baird, hits theaters this summer in two parts. “Families, friends and foes discover the lure of the Old West as the Civil War divides the country,” the film synopsis reads.
As all loyal fans know, Tim McGraw is part of the Yellowstone universe alongside Costner, as McGraw and his wife Faith Hill star in the Yellowstone prequel 1883.
While Horizon: An American Saga is not a part of the Yellowstone universe, it has the same Western vibe that we all know and love from Yellowstone, and is set around two decades prior to 1883, from 1861 to 1865. With as many Western acting, writing, and producing credits as Costner has at this point in his career, he’s basically the reining king of the genre.
As Costner’s (John Dutton) on-screen great-grandfather, McGraw (James Dutton) was quick to show his support for Costner’s new project, which is over 30 years in the making. “First look at my pal (and great grandson in the @yellowstone family) Kevin Costner’s new project @horizonamericansaga…. Looks fantastic!,” McGraw wrote on his Instagram post of the Horizon trailer.

Horizon: An American Saga Part 1 premieres exclusively in theaters on June 28 with part 2 following shortly after with an August 16th premiere date.
