Tom Cruise once pulled a nerve-tingling prank on his co-star and good friend Glen Powell while they were filming Top Gun: Maverick.
Glen Powell has given fans a hilarious insight into his friendship with Tom Cruise.
The two Hollywood stars became good friends after working together on the set of Top Gun: Maverick in 2018 which gave Glen some interesting memories.
During an interview with GQ Magazine, the Anyone But You actor recalled a particularly nerve-wracking anecdote from his time on set with Tom, which involved a helicopter ride in London after reshooting some scenes at Pinewood Studios.
Glen, 35, revealed how Tom decided to prank him while still in mid-air, explaining: “Tom goes, ‘Oh no, oh no,’ and he starts dropping the helicopter over London.
“I was like, ‘Am I about to be the unnamed guy that dies with Tom in a smoking hole in the middle of London?’” he wondered at the time.
Thankfully for Glen, he quickly noticed it was only a prank, as Tom is known for flying helicopters and “actual jets.”
He also carried out most of his scenes for the movie, including the ones where he was piloting an aircraft.
Glen also gushed over Tom’s acting skills as well as paying his respects towards the film crew and everyone involved in the production team on the movie.
“I got to watch a guy who knew every department. He was able to clearly interface with everyone, and be so friendly and respectful and be able to communicate that vision,“ he raved to the magazine, noting that they quickly became “kindred spirits.”
Glen also stated that he had some concerns about the role he was offered for the movie, which resulted in Tom rewriting the character.
“I said my piece to Tom about what I do and what I do well, and he listened. Tom’s a listener.
“He listens to the crew members, he listens to his collaborators, and he hears people,“ the actor went on.
