Production of the television series “Tulsa King” moved to Georgia, but you’ll be able to see slices of Tulsa when Season 2 arrives on Paramount+.

The “Tulsa King” crew — but not the main cast — returned to Tulsa this week to capture footage and images that will be be sprinkled into the series. Temporary street closures were arranged.

Created by Taylor Sheridan, “Tulsa King” stars Sylvester Stallone as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mafia capo who did not rat out others in the organization while serving a 25-year prison sentence. He was surprised to learn upon release that the reward for his silence would be a fresh start on unfamiliar turf: Tulsa.

The fish-out-of-water series premiered Nov. 13, 2022. The Season 1 story arc played out over nine episodes. “Tulsa King” was green-lighted for a second season after only three episodes.

Stallone came to Tulsa in March 2022 to begin filming, but Season 1 was shot primarily in Oklahoma City.

In between the inaugural season and the follow-up season came news that production was moving to Georgia and that showrunner Terence Winter would not be continuing in that role. Winter is on board as a writer and executive producer. Frank Grillo, who has appeared in many John Swab shot-in-Tulsa films, is among new cast additions.

The “Tulsa King” crew is expected to continue doing work in Tulsa through the end of the week. Norman-based Freihofer Casting issued a casting call for extras for second unit photography in advance of filming activity. The casting call said the series “will be capturing multiple shots in and around the city.”
