Tulsa King wrapped its first season in January 2023, so you might have forgotten the particulars about how Dwight “The General” Manfredi dealt with guys like Caolan Waltrip and Nico “The Package” Bugliosi.

With Season 2 of Tulsa King on the doorstep, it seemed like a good team for a Season 1 recap. The video below contains spoilers for Season 1.

Read the text that follows for a more sanitized version.

  • Season 2 of Tulsa King begins on Sept. 15 on Paramount+.
  • The show stars Sylvester Stallone as a just-released-from-prison mafia capo sent to Tulsa, Okla. to start new business.
  • Quickly tensions escalate between his new crew, his old crew and existing gangs in the area.

Tulsa King Season 1 Recap:

After Dwight is released from jail, he’s “banished” (his words) to Oklahoma, where he fits in like a square peg in a round hole. Immediately he sets his eye on a marijuana dispensary and forces its owner, Bodhi, to join his crew. Reluctant at first, Bodhi (Martin Starr) becomes a loyal member of this gang with Tyson (Jay Will) and Mitch (Garrett Hedlund).

An ATF agent named Stacy is Dwight’s romantic partner, which puts her in the difficult place of aiding a fugitive. She and Dwight work together against the leader of a biker gang named Waltrip (Ritchie Coster), but their alliance is short-lived by the end of the season, as she is forced to choose between her job and her heart.

In New York, the mob is trying to figure out what to do with Dwight after he assaults one capo and kills another. Chickie (Domenick Lombardozzi) decides to eliminate Dwight and calls a meeting, but Dwight sends him home and breaks off their arrangement. While this no doubt angers the mafia, their plans are not set into motion as Season 1 wraps.

The Season 2 trailer shows Dwight getting out of jail on bond after being charged with bribing a federal agent (Stacy, played by Andrea Savage). That’s Jelly Roll’s song “Get By” playing throughout the trailer.

Tulsa King Season 2 Preview:

Tension between Dwight’s Oklahoma crew and his old mafia crew in New York City will certainly rise, likely putting family and friends in danger. A new villain has also been introduced for Season 2, however.

Neal McDonough is set to star across from Stallone for the new season. If you’re a fan of Yellowstone, you’ll recognize him as Malcolm Beck, John Dutton’s enemy in Season 2 of Yellowstone. The Dutton Rules podcast team considers Beck to be the greatest Yellowstone villain ever.

When Does Tulsa King Return?

Tulsa King returns to Paramount+ on Sept. 15. Ten episodes are scheduled through Nov. 17.
