Tulsa King season 2 will feature Sylvester Stallone taking on a new role. Created by Taylor Sheridan, the hit Paramount Plus crime drama premiered in 2022, following Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi as he leaves prison and travels to Oklahoma to build a new criminal empire. After a successful season 1, Tulsa King season 2 is now poised to continue Manfredi’s story, with Stallone taking center stage once more.

A new report from Collider now reveals that Stallone will be expanding his role on Tulsa King season 2 to include writing duties as well. Stallone is credited as a co-writer on both the season 2 premiere and the finale. The actor’s involvement as a writer indicates that he had more creative input regarding his character and the general direction of the show as a whole.

Tulsa King Season 2 Is In Good Hands

Though Stallone remains best known for his on-screen work, he also boasts an impressive career behind the camera. Stallone’s first major screenplay credit is, of course, for 1976’s Rocky, for which he was nominated for an Oscar. That film ended up with two major wins at the Academy Awards that year, including Best Picture and Best Director for John G. Avildsen. Stallone would also write all five Rocky sequels, as well as 2018’s Creed II.

Stallone also notably has screenplay credits on films like First Blood (1982), Rambo: First Blood Part II (1985), Cobra (1986), Cliffhanger (1993), The Expendables (2010), and Homefront (2013). Stallone’s most recent screenplay credit is for his swan song as Rambo with 2019’s Rambo: Last Blood. Other than one episode of a 1973 show called The Evil Touch, Tulsa King season 2 will mark Stallone’s first major writing credit on a TV show.

With the Tulsa King season 1 finale setting up a tense season 2, it could be good news that Stallone has become involved in the writing process. To come on as a writer, Stallone evidently feels passionate about his character and about the show at large, and his desire to help steer the series forward could suggest that he’s hoping to stick around for a potential season 3. It remains to be seen how Tulsa King season 2 will compare to season 1, but the premiere and the finale are evidently now episodes to look out for.
