Following season 2’s shocking finale, Sylvester Stallone has officially confirmed his return for Tulsa King season 3. Created by Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan for the Paramount+ streaming service, the hit crime drama has generated impressive viewership numbers. Season 2’s release alone ultimately set a new record for the service’s premiere day statistics, drawing 5.4 million viewers for the first episode within seven days. In November, it was reported that Stallone was in negotiations for his return as Mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi for what was expected to be an additional two-season deal for Tulsa King seasons 3 and 4.

Now, Stallone appears to have finalized those negotiations, with the Tulsa King star taking to Instagram to hype his return for season 3. Featuring a behind-the-scenes image of a script page from season 2, Stallone captioned his post with “Well, it is time to get ready for NEXT SEASON ON TULSA KING … Go Team Go!” Check out the original post below:

The image features what appears to be a redacted copy of one of the scripts for season 2, episode 6, “Navigator”. There is writing scribbled over every available part of the page, each leaving a note for future revisions. The copy is marked for Stallone specifically. While not a copy of the season 3 script, it is still a behind-the-scenes look at the writing process.

What Stallone’s Return Means For Tulsa King’s Future
The Show Has Already Been A Notable Success Story For Paramount+

Serving as Stallone’s first leading role in a scripted TV show, the response to his transition from big-screen action hero to television mafioso has been utterly overwhelming. Given the strong reception that Tulsa King’s first two seasons have already generated, it is not surprising that Paramount+ would be keen on bringing him back for season 3 and beyond, especially given the record-breaking viewership numbers. Moreover, the culmination of this latest deal will likely only serve to provide the star with additional creative influence over the show’s direction moving forward.

While it is presently unclear whether this latest post also indicates that Stallone will be back for Tulsa King season 4, as the initial reports surrounding his negotiations indicated, this latest confirmation will still come as a great relief to fans. After all, they have been left waiting to see the fallout of Tulsa King season 2’s shock ending, which saw Dwight kidnapped by a mysterious organization.

Moreover, it will also likely bode well for plans to further expand the franchise, with season 2 writer Terence Winter previously hinting at the possibility of a New Orleans-based spin-off show. The New Orleans show is currently in development, though not much has been revealed about its production process. It is likely still years away from premiering.

Why Tulsa King Is Being Renewed
Critics And Audiences Love The Show

It should come as no surprise that Tulsa King has earned a season 3 renewal. The show has seen record-breaking viewership numbers and an excellent critical response. On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, it sits at an overall average of 89% on the critic-driven Tomatometer. Among audiences, it has a favorable 84% score. With critics praising the performances and the slight comedic undertones, both totals have been enough to offer a Fresh rating. The Fresh designations translate across both seasons of the show, which have been somewhat equally respected. Check out each season’s Rotten Tomatoes totals below:

Having seen the positive responses and incredible ratings, season 3 was fairly inevitable. The true surprise, however, is that season 4 was greenlit at the same time. With a major actor like Stallone at the helm, it is shocking that he would agree to a two-season renewal that could limit his opportunities to sign onto movies. After all, the budget for Stallone’s best movies overshadowed anything this show could offer. While he still signed onto multiple 2025 movies, including Alarum and Levon’s Trade, the season 4 confirmation is proof that Stallone is certainly invested in this franchise.

Our Take On Dwight’s Tulsa King Season 3 Journey
He’s No Stranger To Escaping Tricky Situations

While this year’s Tulsa King season 2 finale saw Stallone’s mobster do away with most of his key enemies, including Jackie Ming and Chickie, his unexpected kidnapping in the show’s final moments is guaranteed to generate considerable interest in the show’s eventual season 3 premiere. However, as someone who has already proven himself capable of extricating himself from a nearly endless procession of difficult, and often life-threatening, scenarios, there is no doubt Dwight will eventually find a way to turn his latest predicament to his advantage in Tulsa King season 3.

Like the seasons before it, the coming episodes should reveal the details behind Dwight’s inevitable escape. Once he gets away, he will need to continue his campaign against the Triads. All the while, Cal Thresher is likely to make his move against the new competition. The two-season renewal should allow for more cohesive storytelling that will take place across two seasons. Tulsa King will not need to depend on season 3’s success to earn a season 4 renewal, so it should be able to take more risks with Dwight’s journey.
