The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live Episode 5 will bring trouble for Rick and Michonne, but also deepen their relationship.

With two episodes left from The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, Rick and Michonne got away and are on the same page again.

The Walking Dead spinoff brought back Rick and Michonne to the center of the action again, after both left the original show before its ending. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has just released a clip from the upcoming Episode 5, “Become,” where the two of them get a moment of peace to catch up. The show, which featured their reunion after Rick’s stint with CRM, ended on a hopeful note in Episode 4, “What We,” which star Danai Gurira wrote.

In the new clip, where the two of them are walking in the woods, Rick admitted that he “never let go,” despite pushing her away after their reunion. Directed by Michael E. Satrazemis from a script by Gabriel Llanas and Matthew W. Negrete, Rick and Michonne are far from their happy ending. With only two episodes left to go for the miniseries, Rick and Michonne will encounter “dangerous people” in Episode 5, which will pose more trouble for the couple.

Rick and Michonne’s reunion was nothing that fans were expecting. Michonne believed Rick had died, but he had been with CRM since his apparent death. The two reunited in the new spinoff, but their relationship wasn’t as easy as one would’ve guessed. Michonne joined CRM, but it took a while for them to find the same ease and trust they had in the original show. However, the new clip shows them more united than ever.

In Episode 4, Rick finally confessed to Michonne how scared he was, and she managed to convince him to escape with her now that CRM thought they were dead. The trailer for the upcoming fifth episode also suggests more trouble incoming, including new survivors, and someone tracking them.

Will The Ones Who Live Continue?

The first episode of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live broke records, proving that Rick and Michonne were still some of the most interesting and rooted for characters. Their romance was cut short in the original show, and fans wanted to see them together. On top of that, it proved that The Walking Dead was still a high-interest TV series.

When speaking with Entertainment Weekly about what to expect from the show’s final two episodes, executive producer and showrunner Scott Gimple gave a cryptic answer: “They get home and everything’s great!,” Gimple joked. “It was very weird to do those last two episodes because everything’s fine after that. There are no problems,” he continued. “No, I guess I can spoil that they aren’t able to just immediately go off into the sunset. Stuff happens. They have really achieved something in this episode between the two of them, but I don’t know if the world is going to let them hold onto it.”

The show was originally a trilogy of feature films, but it was instead turned into a six-episode limited series. So far, there isn’t any confirmation about The Ones Who Live Season 2, but Gimple cryptically said, “anything is possible. Even if Rick dies in the last episode, anything is possible.” Gurira also played coy about the future in an interview with THR, adding that, “You know I can’t answer that! But AMC handed us the reins. Ultimately, what you see is our vision.”
