Was This Lucky & Liz Moment A Callback To Luke & Laura On General Hospital?

He’s loving angels instead.

As Lucky and Elizabeth slowly but surely get on their way to rekindling their romance, they may have just made an iconic nod to the fan-favorite couple that came before them on General Hospital.

LL2.0

With Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) single and Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) back in Port Charles, it’s only a matter of time until the supercouple, dubbed LL2, reunites. Their relationship hit the brakes in 2011 after Elizabeth had an affair with Lucky’s brother, got pregnant, and Lucky decided to leave town to try and find himself (despite fathering the baby).

Now that Lucky’s back and has certainly found himself, it turned south when what he needed to find was his inner Luke (ex-Anthony Geary). Between the poker games, bartending, and his quick wit, Lucky has been acting more like his father than ever before (which is much more comforting for long-time viewers than watching the character as a druggie or a cop).

He’s finally sure of who he is in Port Charles. He’s got a job at Charlie’s, and he’s using his detective skills to nail Cyrus (Jeff Kober) and make up for lost time with his son. There’s just one thing he’s missing: the love of his life.

Angel

During the February 4, 2025, episode of GH, Lucky opened up to Elizabeth about what it was like being held captive by Sidwell (Carlo Rota, who recently guested on State of Mind). He admitted he felt his late father was there with him, helping him win the life-or-death poker games. But Luke wasn’t the only presence he felt.

When Lucky admitted that he saw Elizabeth while he was locked up, he described the experience like seeing an angel. She told him she couldn’t be anyone’s angel, and so he assured her he just needed her to be herself.

Always one for nicknames, GH fans may remember the way Luke would often call Laura (Genie Francis) his “angel.” Lucky referring to Elizabeth as his angel was a heartwarming callback to the original LL.
