Could this secret lead to a new GH love?

Oh, silent night, oh, holy night on General Hospital. While some were opening presents, and some were finding red gloves, and some were talking to headstones, Cyrus Renault was lurking in a confessional, listening to Nina pour out her deepest, darkest secrets. Now Cyrus knows that Nina committed the unforgivable crime of reporting a crime that sent a criminal to jail. What will he do with the information? He has several options.

Cyrus Renault: Burn It All Down

Cyrus (Jeff Kober) likes causing trouble (read about his manipulating his own sister here). Exposing Nina’s (Cynthia Watros) secret to all and sundry would cause trouble. Nina would be upset. Sonny (Maurice Benard) would be upset. Carly (Laura Wright) would be triumphant. Drew (Cameron Mathison) would be vaguely confused. But the big question is: What would be in it for Cyrus?

Take Over

Nothing. That’s what would be in it for Cyrus. And Cyrus doesn’t do things for no reason. If Cyrus is to make use of this information, he needs to make sure he is the only one who has it. That’s what makes anything valuable — scarcity. So the first thing Cyrus would need to do is to get a monopoly on the market. He needs to eliminate the competition. Which means eliminating Michael (Chad Duell). That could work.

Change Your Mind, Change Your Life

But there’s a third possibility. What if, in the process of deciding what to do about Nina’s secret, Cyrus begins to, more and more, see the situation from Nina’s point of view. And when you see things from a person’s point of view, you gain sympathy for them.

Which leads to empathy. Which could lead to…all sorts of interesting things. What if Cyrus develops feelings for Nina? Protective feelings? And then more. What if Cyrus decides he wants to help Nina. To take care of her. And taking care of her means getting rid of her problems. Which, sure, include Michael. And Carly. But also Sonny. Because he can’t take as good care of Nina as Cyrus could.
