Michelle Visage is best known for her role as a judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race, her work on various TV shows, and her stint on BBC1 show Strictly Come Dancing. She first rose to fame in the 80s as part of girl band Seduction, before going on to launch a career in radio and TV. Michelle, 53, joined RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2011, and has been a permanent judge since the third season of the reality completion series.

She competed on Strictly back in 2019 alongside professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, with the pair coming in seventh place. Michelle is also mum to two daughters, but who is the star’s husband?

Who is Michelle Visage’s husband?

Michelle is married to David Case, an author and screenwriter from Los Angeles. David has won awards and a fellowship for his writing, and worked as an actor in New York before taking time out to raise his and Michelle’s two daughters. In recent years, David has written a series called Hide under the pseudonym Jax Spenser, as well as a manuscript called Last Word in Coaching inspired by his daughter.

Michelle’s recent TV show How’s Your Head, Hun? saw David appear alongside his wife on-screen for the first time. Michelle and David met through a mutual friend in New York, back when Michelle was in girl band Seduction. David had just graduated from Juilliard, and was starting out as an actor and writer in NYC. The couple have been married for 27 years, having tied the knot in 1997 in a private ceremony. Michelle shared a loved-up snap online marking the pair’s 24th anniversary in June 2021.

She captioned the post: “This guy right here. Yes, it’s father’s day but he goes above and beyond every. single. day. not only for our girls but for me, my career, and everything to do with us. But…Today is also 24 years of wedded bliss. Happy Anniversary/Fathers day my forever boyfriend”.

Michelle and David also share two children together, Lillie, 21, and Lola, 19, who regularly feature on the couple’s Instagram pages. The family now reside in California.

Alongside snaps of their daughters, David’s Instagram is littered with pictures celebrating Michelle’s work, showing him to be her biggest fan.

He frequently champions everything she does, whether it’s a new episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, or a TV appearance.

During Michelle’s stint on Strictly Come Dancing, David regularly posted tweets and shared Instagram posts cheering her and dance partner Giovanni on.

While Michelle was away rehearsing for the BBC1 competition, David stayed at home to look after their daughters, with Michelle saying at the time: “He’s my biggest supporter. I couldn’t do it without him, because he’s holding down the fort. Our parenting roles are reversed and I don’t think it’s easy.”

The couple’s daughter Lillie is an aspiring writer like her father, while youngest daughter Lola has found fame on social media, with her popular TikTok videos.

In October 2024, Michelle revealed the pair are in an open marriage, and insisted that sleeping with other men makes their relationship “stronger”. While appearing on the Origins With Cush Jumbo podcast, Michelle shared: “So when I met David, I was 26. I got married at 27. Still young. ‘We’ve been together for 28 years now and I met him in New York City in Central Park and I had just gotten out of a relationship that was like the love of my life and he destroyed me.

“After that, I had a summer of debauchery and then I met David in Central Park and he was so opposite. He was very much like Michael, my ex fiancé. We live openly, so he would get off knowing that I was so happy and no matter what it is that I do, and I’m not just talking sexually. Whatever it is, I don’t know if I have compersion in me to be really excited if he’s doing something with another woman but I know that it exists and he is 100% that.

“The full transparency of the way we live our lives. Completely and, by the way, sometimes it’s not even necessary. It’s just, meaning, we don’t do anything. It’s just the ability to be able to. […] And that’s what works for us.”
