Kevin Costner seems to be sitting cool amid a brewing Taylor Sheridan storm. Although Paramount announced three months ago that Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 would premiere in November 2024, fans are still wondering whether John Dutton III will appear in the final episodes.
Will the Field Of Dreams return to film the end of the number one cable series? Here is a recent clue that may reveal that answer.
Is Kevin Costner Returning For Final Yellowstone Episodes?
Taylor Sheridan’s hit series Yellowstone will be starting production sometime this spring. But, will the lead Kevin Costner be there to complete the series? Right now, it does not look like the Dances With Wolves star will be part of the final episodes. This was from Kevin’s words when he was in divorce court over the summer. His messy Hollywood divorce initiated by now-ex-wife Christine Baumgartner included multiple trips to the courthouse. That is because she was contesting his salary claims to beef up monthly child support payments.
In court, Costner revealed that he was no longer getting money from Yellowstone. Kevin also shared that there had been issues with filming Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2. According to People, he explained that they wanted him to work more, and get less money. Those issues also included a lack of script. Furthermore, he revealed that there were creative issues as well. Although there were discussions about Seasons 6 and 7, the talks ended with Kevin jobless.
Therefore, he revealed that he did not have a job in the series, nor was he getting any residuals. However, he did mention that he would likely need to take Yellowstone to court over the remainder of Season 5.
Golden Globes Introduction Lacked Any Yellowstone Reference
When Kevin Costner was introduced at the Golden Globes Awards last Sunday, something was missing. Costner was not introduced by the Yellowstone role where he won a Golden Globes Award in 2023. The award was Best Performance For An Actor in a Television Series. Instead, Costner was introduced as the star, director, and executive producer of the upcoming film Horizon: An American Saga.
This essentially cut ties with Taylor Sheridan’s modern Western series. It was extra meaningful as the Golden Globes were broadcast on CBS. Currently, Yellowstone on CBS has been enjoying tremendous ratings. Therefore, this introduction certainly indicated that Costner cut all ties.
Could Kevin Costner return to reprise his role as John Dutton? As Paramount has not started production yet, it seems very possible. Most of all, everyone involved with the series will want it to end in the best way possible. But, it seems that right now, Kevin Costner is done playing John Dutton. He will not be filming Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2.
