Clint Eastwood, Patrick McGoohan and Roberts Blossom star in Don Siegel’s classic prison break true story. Siegel and Eastwood were regular collaborators throughout their careers, and this one is arguably the best of the lot. But will there be an Escape from Alcatraz 2? Will there be a sequel to Escape from Alcatraz?
Spoilers ahead for Escape from Alcatraz. No, Escape from Alcatraz 2 won’t happen for a very straightforward reason: the story has already been told. The original film was regarded as an entirely self-contained, stand-alone narrative. It was a true story that ended in the group of prisoners making it out of Alcatraz, albeit never being seen alive again.
What could Escape from Alcatraz 2 be about?
Despite a sequel being very unlikely, there were other stories of prisoners who attempted to escape from Alcatraz, which could be adapted into a movie, acting as a sequel of sorts to the Clint Eastwood classic.
When could a sequel be released?
The sequel would have at least been discussed if it were in the works. However, since there is currently no information regarding Escape from Alcatraz 2, it is best to avoid getting your hopes up, as the likelihood of one is extremely low.
