Would NCIS: Hawai’i Season 4 have included a wedding if CBS did not ax this spinoff? The showrunners for the canceled series revealed what would have been next for Lucy and Kate portrayed by Yasmine Al-Bustami and Tori Anderson. Did a Season 3 storyline hint that the two would end up getting married?

Months after the shocking cancelation, the three co-showrunners, Jan Nash, Christopher Silber, and Matt Bosack, hinted at their Season 4 storyline plans. Here is what they shared.

Showrunners Reveal What They Planned To Do With Lucy And Kate Storyline

Months after CBS shocked NCIS: Hawaii fans and canceled this spinoff, the co-showrunners Jan Nash, Christopher Silber, and Matt Bosack were finally able to talk about what they had planned for Season 4.

Speaking to TV Line, the trio was asked what they had planned for Lucy and Kate. That is because the two had gone undercover as honeymooners. Therefore, a lot of viewers may have seen this as an opportunity for this couple to move forward with this couple. It is no surprise that the co-showrunners saw that as well. Firstly, they admitted that they “hadn’t fully landed what was going to happen in Season 4.” However, there would have been progress forward.

Whether it would have been a wedding, meeting families, or some other thing, we didn’t know.

Speaking to TV Insider before the series was canceled, Al-Bustami had shared that she was happy that the couple was not going backward. “That they’re finally, it seems like, in a good, healthy place, instead of the upside downs.” While admitting it is part of a TV show, she did like the stability of the television relationship, “which is also nice for me as Yasmine to play as well as in a romantic relationship.”

NCIS: Hawaii Showrunners Proud Of Strong Women Storylines

Now that the series is over, the trio of co-showrunners feel proud of how they portrayed women in NCIS: Hawaii. “We did what we set out to do. We created a show with a strong female lead and a cast that reflected the diversity of Hawaii and the world.”

However, their goal was even bigger. They wanted to tell good stories. “We told interesting Navy crime stories. All while maintaining a workplace where people could hopefully do their best work and be valued for it.”
