Yellowstone has revealed a brand new trailer for the final episodes – but fans are not happy.
Yellowstone’s latest sneak peek has dropped, offering an intense glimpse into the drama-packed second half of the show’s fifth season on Paramount.
The new chapters are set to potentially conclude the tumultuous tale of the Dutton family against the backdrop of leading actor Kevin Costner’s exit from his iconic role as John Dutton.
The just-released trailer whips up excitement with a hint at a fierce battle for the ranch, delving deeper into the Duttons and their fragile partnership with the Broken Rock Reservation.
Luke Grimes’s Kayce Dutton enters a blood pact with Thomas Rainwater (played by Gil Birmingham), while the bitter rift between Jamie (Wes Bentley) and Beth (Kelly Reilly) rages on, and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser) continues to excel in his gritty role.
Yet, the trailer has sparked backlash for repurposing numerous scenes from past seasons, including some previously unused shots of Costner, reports the Mirror.
With fans venting their frustration at the possibility of a Costner-free series, some argue that Paramount might be deceiving viewers into thinking the star will feature prominently in the upcoming episodes.
A dismayed fan shared on Reddit: “So they’re gonna pretend John is in this season (he’s in the trailer a few times)… We all know it’s not gonna be the same without Kevin.
“Looks to be the same old formula too, Jamie messes up, acts a fool, Monica (Kelsey Asbille) cries, Beth threatens someone…at least Mo (Mo Brings Plenty) is awesome.”
The trailer’s release on YouTube ignited a wave of passionate responses, with one fan venting: “Won’t watch it without the man who MADE it. One of the best shows ever so sad.”
Another user vehemently expressed: “It’s not going to be the same with Costner!!! Yes, Rip is my favorite character but John Dutton is the literal BACKBONE of the entire show and without him I just can’t see it being as good!
“I just wish they could’ve compromised somehow, but I will NEVER blame Kevin Costner for doing what he did!!”
Clarifying the content of the trailer, someone elucidated: “This trailer uses new and old footage,” before detailing their observations: “For those asking why Kevin is seen so much in this trailer, he’s no longer a part of the show, but Kevin was the headliner of Yellowstone. He sold the show, and Paramount will continue to use him.”
Questioning the promotional tactics, a commenter probed: “Why are they trying to pretend like Johns gonna be in this?”
Concluding the online reactions, a final viewer remarked sardonically: “I love how they are pretending Kevin Costner is in it. People are going to be p****d.”
With only weeks remaining until the anticipated return of Yellowstone, viewers are left to anticipate what the show’s compelling climax will be like devoid of Costner’s presence leading the charge.
Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premieres Sunday, November 10 on Paramount.
