The Taylor Sheridan show has never been above killing off characters, and with the series soon ending, Yellowstone fans have named their picks for the chopping block.
When it was announced that Yellowstone was coming to an early close, fans were quick to realize a couple of things. One: they would have to get their fill of ranch drama somewhere else. And two: some major on-screen deaths were on the way.
The best Yellowstone episodes typically revolve around someone’s shocking and usually violent demise. And the unluckiest Yellowstone characters have succumbed to hidden snakes, explosions, and the ol’ Dutton hanging trick. If that’s the show’s natural state, then imagine what could be coming in Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2.
Fans have gone one step further than trying to work out who could be at risk — they’ve been picking out the ones they want to go.
Yellowstone fans pick who they “want to die”
On the ever-active Yellowstone subreddit, fans have been debating who deserves to die, with a surprising amount of viewers jumping to Jamie Dutton’s defense.
Any Yellowstone fan worth their salt knows that Jamie is the fumbling arrogant mess that keeps the Dutton drama flowing, so it’s very surprising to see so many root for his survival. Even more shockingly, many commentators seem to be gunning for Beth’s fall from grace.
“I think Jamie lives but he’ll be totally cut off from the family forever. Beth becomes completely deranged,” wrote one.
“I want Jamie to win and Beth to die. She deserves it. The character Beth has ruined the show for me the whole time… She is the reason that Jamie is seen as the bad person he is but in reality she is the evil person,” said another.
“I think Jamie could and should survive, but he won’t be happy. Beth should die, her and Rip die together (I do love them together even though they are truly terrible people),” added a third.
Rip Wheeler, professional killer-with-a-heart-of-gold, was mentioned a few times in the conversation. Given how much Rip’s life revolves around the Duttons, there is potential for the Yellowstone finale to bring about his downfall.
“Rip has said repeatedly that when the ranch goes, he goes. So I expect Rip to die at the end, or die when the ranch is no longer the Dutton ranch,” said one
Until Yellowstone’s final episodes hit our screens, there’s no way of knowing who’s up for grabs by the Grim Reaper. (Aside from John Dutton, of course. He’s a dead man walking if there ever was one.) Still, now’s the time to place your bets. In Sheridan’s world, everyone’s fair game.
