While they await the last half of Yellowstone to finish up, fans of Taylor Sheridan’s drama series have been spending a lot of time thinking about what’s to come. How will the series go ahead without its leading man? What lies in store for the remaining Yellowstone characters? Only time will tell.
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 should answer all our lingering questions, and we already have a few endings in mind. But realistically, with the show’s abrupt cancellation putting a halt to Sheridan’s ongoing plans for the series, it’s probably not going to make for a satisfying end either way.
Still, that hasn’t stopped Dutton devotees from theorizing. In fact, there’s one outcome that everyone seems to think could be the only logical conclusion for everyone on the Dutton ranch, and it’s not exactly a happy one.
Yellowstone fans think everyone should go to jail
Over on the Yellowstone subreddit, fans are saying that the only suitable ending for the series would be if everyone (and they mean everyone) winds up in jail for their various crimes.
“I can’t imagine this show ending without everyone just going to prison,” the main post said. “Almost every single character in this show are assh*les who literally murdered people one way or another. It’s hard for me to imagine the show ending without literally the entire Dutton family (including Rip and Lloyd) going to jail and the whole ranch being dismantled.”
“Yeah that would be a great ending. Solid post,” one response agreed.
“You know, it kind of an odd show,” another added. “Not one person on this show has any problem causing harm to others or violating other people’s civil rights. And don’t get me started on Beth, that woman is a pure monster.”
“Not only that, if someone offers you $500 million for your ranch that is one bad year away from bankruptcy you take the money and you run,” another said. “You will never get a better deal than that for the Dutton Ranch.”
“This is the Duttonverse. No one goes to prison for anything,” one user argued. “There are no trials and no courtrooms because I don’t think the FBI or ATF exists in this universe.”
While more than a few characters definitely deserve to be behind bars (sorry, Kayce and Rip), it’s never stopped them before. That said, if Sheridan decides to serve up justice for those morally confused Duttons, then at least it’ll be an ending fans somewhat agree with.
