Yellowstone fans have been debating their favourites on social media, with one viewer calling for more screen time for the ‘most underrated’ character.

Yellowstone enthusiasts have been lighting up social media with their theories and discussions about the Paramount Network’s hit series as the much-anticipated series finale looms on the horizon.

With the neo-Western saga set to make its comeback on November 10, devotees of the show have been reminiscing over some of their most cherished characters before season 5 concludes this segment of the tale once and for all.

Despite the eagerness of many, the final instalments will be missing the presence of the Dutton family’s head honcho John Dutton after Kevin Costner confirmed his exit from the series earlier in the year.

Yet, there’s another character that followers are eager to see more of, with one fan taking to Reddit to sing the praises of the “underrated” stalwart, reports the Express.

Reddit user @Adventurous_Gur7430 confessed their admiration for Dutton ranch cook Gator, portrayed by Gabriel “Gator” Guilbeau, stating: “This is the most underrated character in the whole show! I’m only halfway through season 4.”

The post, accompanied by a snapshot of the character, sparked a wave of agreement in the comments section, with one supporter saying: “I always loved gator, he doesn’t get much screen time but when he does I always enjoy seeing him.” (sic)

“GATORRRRRR,” another exclaimed with enthusiasm, while a third chimed in humorously: “The exception he took to serving cereal is basically my constant mood. Rispetto, da uno chef all’altro.” (sic)

One fan shared a hilarious moment from the show, commenting: “One of my favorite scenes on the show. ‘And what did you kill for dinner tonight Gator?'”

Another enthusiast chimed in with praise for the character’s role in the family, saying: “He’s the hidden back bone of that family he don’t cook id say they don’t eat lol”. (sic)

A lengthy homage was paid by another viewer who admired the character’s consistent performance, which read: “Gator is just a lovable sidekick to every scene he is in. He just shows up and does all the lines with a straight face. His food looks fantastic and it’s like ‘WTF aren’t you eating this?'”

They continued to highlight his comedic talent: “Then he gets some of the best lines ever ‘what is gluten? ‘ I almost died from laughing so hard. It isn’t a funny line as written but man the delivery and in that scene. Lmao and he said it with a straight face. I’m gonna miss Gator.” (sic)

The conversation among fans also touched on how actor Gabriel Guilbeau landed his role on the show, with one fan disclosing: “Turns out he was just a cook for the actors and they liked him so much they wrote him into the show.”

Guilbeau had been part of the Yellowstone team since its inception in 2018, initially working off-camera before making his screen debut as the Dutton family’s private chef that same year. His unexpected leap into acting came when series creator Taylor Sheridan decided after only a month to “put him in the show”.

He revealed to Us Weekly: “Taylor threw me in front of the camera and he said, ‘OK, go.’ And I said, ‘OK, go?! ‘ He goes, ‘Yeah, just, you know, do Gator stuff.’ … I was like, ‘Well, I guess I’ll just start making dinner and they can just film that.'”

Following his impromptu debut, he appeared in season 2 in a more substantial role. The chef elaborated: “It just made sense after that. And it didn’t hurt that I’m the only actor who’s always on set because I’m already there, and I’m always in costume. It’s a win for everybody.”

Fans can look forward to Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 dropping on Sunday, November 10 on Paramount Plus.
