Since John Dutton III’s death during the Yellowstone season 5, part 2 premiere, his children (minus Jamie, of course) have been trying to save the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, and Kayce might have the solution ahead of the finale. The Paramount Network neo-Western drama TV show created by Taylor Sheridan follows the aforementioned Dutton family, the owners of the largest ranch in Montana. Over the course of the series, the characters have undergone numerous hardships in order to retain their power. However, the Duttons’ biggest challenge is in Yellowstone season 5, part 2.

After John’s death in Yellowstone season 5, episode 9, his family is in danger of losing their land. Jamie welcomes that notion as he stands to benefit from the airport’s construction, while Beth and Kayce try their hardest to protect their home (and figure out what happened to their father). Everything seemed hopeless heading into and for most of episode 13, “Give the World Away.” However, Kayce has figured out a way for the Dutton family’s legacy to live to fight another day before the Yellowstone series finale.

Beth Successfully Stages An Auction To Raise Money For The Ranch
The Duttons Raise Over $30 Million

Beth’s idea of saving the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch in the show’s penultimate hour is to hold an auction. As Rip said in Yellowstone season 5, episode 12, they would rather lose their horse, cattle, etc. than their land. So, Beth stages an auction to raise money, and hundreds of people come to the ranch to bet on almost everything the family owns (including the wagon that dates back to 1883). Consequently, they might be able to pay off an absurd amount of taxes and keep their home from turning into a place utilized to increase tourism.

By the end of Yellowstone season 5, episode 13, the Duttons raise over $30 million. To many, this might seem like enough to save the ranch altogether. However, it would only hold the family off for one year, and it would be quite difficult for the ranch to make money in that year with no horses or cattle. So, Beth, Kayce, and Rip will have to find an alternative solution to protect their family’s legacy. The good news is that Kayce already knows what they have to do to save the ranch.

Kayce Comes Up With A Final Way To Save The Dutton Ranch

After threatening Grant with “counting coup” in Yellowstone season 5, episode 12, Kayce returns home to Monica in “Give The World Away.” He explains to his wife that he ensured his family would be safe from the people who killed his father, and that he has figured out a way for them to leave the ranch. However, before Kayce, Monica, and Tate can do so, Kayce has to protect the Yellowstone. He refuses to tell Monica his exact plans, but after alluding to them while speaking to Beth, Kayce finally divulges a part of his scheme at the hour’s end.

Following the auction, the two Dutton siblings discuss their future in Yellowstone season 5, episode 13’s final scene. Beth is hopeful after raising $30 million from the auction, but Kayce is already two steps ahead of her. He poses a hypothetical question to his sister — if Beth were to sell her $300,000 car to Kayce for only $1, and he registered it, would the sales tax be based on what he paid or the car’s value? Beth is confused about what her brother is getting at, but she tells him it will be what he paid for it.

Based on the ending of Yellowstone season 5, episode 13, the finale will show Kayce working to save the ranch (which most likely means striking a deal with Chief Thomas Rainwater).

Kayce doesn’t reveal anything more about his plans. He just smiles, gets in his truck, and starts to drive away. Meanwhile, Beth begins to understand what Kayce is implying and remarks, “Why didn’t I think of that?” She chases Kayce’s car down and asks him, “Who?” Kayce says to give him a day to “make sure.” Beth kisses her brother on the cheek and thanks him before leaving. Monica, who is sitting in the passenger seat, questions Kayce about the exchange, and he explains that to save the ranch, they have to give it away in the Yellowstone series finale.

Kayce’s Possible Plan In Yellowstone Season 5, Episode 13 Explained
Who Will Kayce Give The Ranch Away To In The Finale?

As Kayce tells his wife in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone season 5, episode 13, the Duttons must sell the ranch to protect it. Unfortunately, he doesn’t go into much more detail about his plan. However, one might be able to infer who Kayce plans on giving the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch to in the season 5 finale of the neo-Western drama.

Chief Thomas Rainwater and Mo have been mostly absent from Yellowstone season 5, part 2, but they will seemingly have important roles in the finale. The only ones who would likely be willing to pay little to nothing for the ranch is the Broken Rock Reservation. Consequently, Kayce might strike a deal with Chief Thomas Rainwater in the finale that could benefit both Yellowstone season 5, part 2 characters and keep the land out of the hands of greedy companies like Market Equities.

Based on the ending of Yellowstone season 5, episode 13, the finale will show Kayce working to save the ranch (which most likely means striking a deal with Chief Thomas Rainwater). Aside from that, though, the neo-Western drama’s last episode should also feature John’s funeral as his body has been released back to his family. “Give the World Away” contains a small memorial for John and Colby at the auction, but Beth wants a more private affair for her father.

Plus, the war between Beth and Jamie in Yellowstone season 5, part 2 must end. Jamie will take Christina’s advice and enact the plan to clear his name in the finale, while Beth’s scheme to ruin her brother will materialize. Only time will tell how their sibling rivalry ends, whether it’s in bloodshed or not, but it will conclude in the Yellowstone season 5 finale.
