Yellowstone filming has resumed at last with work starting on the final season five episodes.

Yellowstone season five is in progress yet again with the cast and crew resuming work on the final series.

Yellowstone aired its latest episode more than a year ago in January 2023 with Paramount Network deciding to split the series in two parts.

There had been radio silence on when shooting the remainder of the final season would begin, with only the first eight instalments coming out.

Now, the network has finally shared that production on Yellowstone has resumed with filming now underway in Montana.

Despite production being later than previously expected, it is still expected that season five, part two, is going to begin sometime in November.

While it was initially thought that part two would consist of six instalments, it actually may be longer than expected.

Creator Taylor Sheridan shared: “If I think it takes 10 episodes to wrap it up, they’ll give me 10. It’ll be as long as it needs to be.”

Seasons one to four all consisted of a total of 10 episodes so even without this possible extension, Yellowstone series five is going to be the longest yet with a minimum of 14.

What there has still been no word on, however, is whether or not leading man Kevin Costner is going to be making a comeback.

It has been widely reported that there were ongoing disputes between Costner and Sheridan over scheduling, script delays and creative differences.

A big issue was the John Dutton star focusing a lot of his attention on his upcoming Western epic film franchise, Horizon: An American Saga.

As a result, the 69-year-old took a step back from Yellowstone and wasn’t believed to be returning for season five, part two.

He had since he would “love” to go back to the show to finish it off but if Costner isn’t involved at this stage when production has resumed, it does seem less likely.

At the end of the first part, Jamie Dutton (played by Wes Bentley) began his plan to try and remove his father John Dutton (Kevin Costner) from the governor’s office.

He also begins to plot how he will be able to get rid of his troublesome sister Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) for good.

With Beth aware of what her brother is capable of, she isn’t expected to go down without a fight.

Yellowstone is available to watch on Paramount Network.
