In the run-up to the highly anticipated Yellowstone finale, Kelly Reilly shares her poignant thoughts on portraying Beth Dutton.
The distinguished British actress has been bringing life to Beth since the hit Paramount Network show’s debut in 2018 and recently opened up about dealing with intense personal sorrow during the early stages of the series.
In a heartfelt chat on Drew Barrymore’s CBS talk show, Kelly explained how playing the “powerful” Beth became a refuge amidst her personal trials.
Drew asked: “Do you bring your personal experiences to – not only the character – but how you emote in a scene?”
Kelly admitted that prior to the start of filming, she had faced challenges in her own life.
She shared: “I was in a deep grief and I hadn’t figured out who I was beyond that and I was in a fog at that moment.”
On finding solace in her character, she said: “And then this character lands in my lap and I was like, ‘What am I going to do with this?’ She became this kind of life raft for me.”
Reflecting on how stepping into Beth’s persona helped her cope with her grief, Kelly remarked: “So I got to hide in her for a minute while I came back to life and I found my own strength and my own happiness again.
“And I miss her when I’m not playing her. So when I get her back on and I’m putting the dresses on and the boots and the eyeliner, I’m like, ‘Alright let’s go.’ And I feel it – I feel that power.”
The acclaimed American drama series Yellowstone is counting down its final episodes of season 5, gearing up to bring the current chapter to a gripping close.
This pivotal moment has ignited widespread conjecture among fans concerning the fates of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), the beloved pair, as well as brothers Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley).
With patriarch John Dutton now notably missing following Kevin Costner’s sudden departure, attention has inevitably shifted to the remaining Dutton family members.
