The police procedural show revolves around a group of fictional agents serving at the Hawaiin branch of the NCIS. The show premiered Season 1 on September 20, 2021, Season 2 on September 19, 2022, and Season 3 on February 12, 2024. Since the news of the cancellation, there has been anger and confusion among fans.

So, here’s everything you need to know about the NCIS: Hawai’i cancellation and if there will be more chapters.

Why was NCIS: Hawai’i canceled after Season 3?

CBS officially announced the cancellation in late April 2024, while Season 3 was still on–air. In early May, the network cited several reasons for it, including the cost of making new seasons and the viewership ratings.

According to a report from Variety, Amy Reisenbach, the president of CBS Entertainment, said that the need to find consistency across the network’s 2024-2025 slate also played a role in the decision.

Will there be more seasons of NCIS: Hawai’i?

Since the announcement, fans have been campaigning for more seasons of NCIS: Hawai’i. However, as things stand now, the series remains canceled. Before the final episode aired on May 6, series co-creator Christopher Silber took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reflect on the show’s abrupt ending.

“Friends. Tonight is the series finale of #NCISHawaii,” he posted. “It’s premature. There are a lot of feelings. But mostly it’s pride for what we did together. Love for everyone involved. And my deepest gratitude to the greatest fan base who ever loved a TV show. Mahalo!!”
