Rumors erupted Wednesday alleging the second season of Taylor Sheridan’s “Tulsa King” is without a director as the show heads back into production.
The rumors come from a completely uncited and unreferenced report from Fandom Wire claiming that “Tulsa King” is without any directors as season two fast approaches. The comedy of errors was developed by “Yellowstone” co-creator Taylor Sheridan and stars the ever-iconic Sylvester Stallone among a cast of other absolute legends.
Fandom Wire claimed there are conversations between the production team and a potential candidate, but there’s no further information on the identity of the individual. In my experience, it’s pretty uncommon for a television series to have one direct or throughout the entire episodic run. Typically, there will be a host of people hired, each taking on an episode each. And sometimes even the stars take on directing an episode or two.
All you have to do is look up “Tulsa King” season one on IMDB and you’ll see that five different people took on the job of director. Why Fandom Wire thinks that not having any directors signed on is going to “devastate” the show is beyond me.
Production on the show recently moved from Oklahoma to Atlanta, where the team will be based out of Eagle Rock Studios, according to the Oklahoman. The official launch date for production has yet to be released to the public.
Sheridan is in the middle of filming his next show, “Landman,” so it’s unlikely “Tulsa King” production will start before that concludes. It’s likely that we won’t see a second season of “Tulsa King” until 2025. So, until then, we’ll be here debunking the silly rumors about it wherever possible.
