Steve Burton is going to leave Salem behind in 2024.

Steve Burton has soap-hopped to all three networks during the course of his daytime career. The actor, who plays Harris Michaels on Days of our Lives, now is sharing news of his plans where he’s making yet another big move.

Steve Burton: Goodbye, Harris Michaels

“Hey, Happy New Year,” Burton began a reel on Instagram. “There’s been a lot of speculation on my daytime status.” The Daytime Emmy-winner suggests those who want to know the scoop click the link in his bio, which takes readers to a news story on Daily Drama that gives the details.

“Well, I just shot my final scenes here on Days of Our Lives and I just wanna say, thank you so much to the cast, to the crew,” said Burton. “It’s been amazing. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. So thank you so much to the fans. It’s just, I’m always so full of gratitude. So thank you. Stay tuned.”

As fans of the actor know, Harris Michaels was Burton’s first soap opera character, which he originated back in 1988. Burton, after exiting his role as Jason Morgan on General Hospital, reprised Harris in the summer of 2022 on Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem, Chapter Two. He then brought Harris to the mothership — DAYS, which streams daily on Peacock.

Burton will still be seen as Harris, however, as DAYS shoots six months in advance. The character will air well into 2024. The actor’s mum so far on his next move though he did advise his followers to “stay tuned.” However, it’s possible he could return to either his role as Dylan McAvoy on The Young and the Restless or GH’s Jason.

Burton won a Daytime Emmy in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2017 (for Dylan) and in 1998 (for Jason). The latter character was killed off in late 2021 as Jason perished in a cave-in but a body was never found….
