The popular ranch drama is gearing up for its fifth and final season after a lengthy hiatus.

The actor, who stars as Rip Wheeler, shared his excitement with People, saying: “It’s been a year and a half. I’m excited to see my castmates.”

Created by Taylor Sheridan, the series follows the powerful Dutton family, headed by John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his children – one of whom is Beth (Kelly Reilly), Rip’s wife.

With the end of the historic industry strikes, production is set to begin soon on the show’s concluding episodes.

There have been whispers of tension between Taylor and his stars, initially with Kevin and, later, Cole.

In May, it was revealed that Kevin would depart from Yellowstone following season 5, ahead of the announcement that this season would also be the series’ last.

Later in November, a business disagreement brought Cole and Taylor into the spotlight once more.

In a legal turn, Taylor’s Bosque Ranch filed a lawsuit against Cole’s Free Rein Coffee Company.

The lawsuit centers on allegations that Free Rein’s logo is too similar to Bosque Ranch’s trademark, potentially confusing consumers.

Both logos feature the intertwined letters “B” and “R,” which has fueled this branding dispute.

Amid the off-screen drama, Cole said he is looking forward to reconnecting with Kelly on the set of Yellowstone.

He was also upbeat about Taylor directing a few episodes in the final season.

“I think he’s going to direct some [episodes], so I’m excited about that. Just get back up in Montana and go to work.”

Reflecting on the broader impact of his role, Cole added: “It’s always amazing to create a character that really transcends. It’s pretty wild that this show has touched so many.”

The final episodes of season 5 of Yellowstone will start airing in November 2024.
