It’s usually not what he likes to talk about in front of the public, but there are beliefs that Sylvester Stallone has aligned himself with certain political entities due to the resemblance in their ideologies. In the past, it was stated that the action star was a pro-Republican for showing his support for John McCain’s run for President in 2008.

But as was informed before, he doesn’t like to talk too much about it, although he did also think about following the footsteps of his friend and former rival Arnold Schwarzenegger into politics. Apart from that, he also revealed how Donald Trump managed to pique his interest by being an allegorical character from a Charles Dickens novel.

Why Sylvester Stallone Liked Donald Trump Running For President In The Past

There are a lot of things that Sylvester Stallone is known for in Hollywood, which includes accolades outside of his iconic persona as a film star. From being a director to a producer, screenwriter, and an artist on the canvas, the star has done it all and has amassed fame and recognition from all over the world.

But where we haven’t seen the star, unlike his former industry rival Arnold Schwarzenegger, is in the political scene. Although he may have been open about his approach to politics, he doesn’t usually talk about them in public. But in a past interview with Variety, the Rambo star talked about what he thought about Donald Trump.

Since the billionaire was running for President back then, Stallone had his opinions about him winning the elections, which stemmed from his intrigue for the candidate. He said that he liked Trump in the race for office because he was a very raw and mostly unfiltered individual coming from a political standpoint, which very much reminded him of a Dickensian character. He said:

“I love Donald Trump, he’s a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean? There are certain people like Arnold, Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don’t know how that translates to running the world.”

Being a pro-Republican as claimed in the past, it’s no wonder that he would like Trump, may it be his nature or his ideologies.

Sylvester Stallone Once Thought Of Entering Into Politics Himself

In the same interview, the star also revealed how he was interested in getting into politics himself after a comment from a politician.

During his shoot for 2006’s Rocky Balboa, the star met with the mayor of Philadelphia, who told him that he had the chance to be elected if he got into the US politics scene. But when he brought this idea up with his wife Jennifer Flavin later, she told him there was no need for him to do so as the mayor was just being respectful and nice to him, which brought things into perspective.
