1923 season 2 release date speculation
1923 season 2 was officially announced in February 2023, and we believe the Dutton family is likely to be back on our screens by late 2024.
Naturally, there was a big strike-shaped spanner in the works. Local press in Montana reported in June 2023 that the production had been delayed indefinitely due to the 2023 Writers Strike. While that strike is now resolved, there’s still the ongoing Actors Strike, so there are no signs of production starting up soon.
Because of this, we think a late 2024 release date is most likely, since the strike may continue to last until the end of 2023, and since the first season was released in December of 2022, Paramount may wish to wait and match this date with the continuation if it allows them more time.
Who’s in the 1923 season 2 cast?
Harrison Ford, Helen Mirren, Brandon Sklenar, and Darren Mann are all expected to return for 1923 season 2.
Ford’s certainly keen to get going again, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “I really didn’t realize how much work 1923 was going to be, and I absolutely feel it’s worth it. I’m excited to do another season.”

The 1923 season 2 plot will follow Jacob and Cara Dutton as they continue to deal with the financial and social hardships of life in the 1920s and try to protect their ranch from the clutches of Donald Whitfield.
1923 ended with the Duttons facing an uncertain future after Donald Whitfield paid the Yellowstone ranch‘s property tax, meaning he’ll get possession of the farm if they can’t pay him back in one year’s time.
Of course, the finale of season one saw Spencer and Alexandra separated as he was arrested for killing her original husband-to-be (but let’s be honest — it was justified!), and the two parted ways by agreeing that they would find each other again in Bozeman, Montana. From there, we hope they will be reunited once more and move into the Yellowstone ranch, with Spencer ready to save the day.
Actor Brandon Sklenar has suggested that Spencer Dutton will be “a different man” when 1923 season 2 comes around. Given all that, it’s a safe bet that the show will continue to explore the social challenges of the early 20th century and how they impact the lives of the people of the time.
We also know, courtesy of a disappointing update by Sklenar, that 1923 season 2 will bring the show to an end. So there are plenty of threads to tie up before we say goodbye to these characters.
